Learning is Cartography
Each new community we join, idea we explore, and project we ship has the capacity to not only move our lives forward, but the lives of others we bring along. I've always admired those who are bold enough to explore new territory, discover landmarks (and hazards), and create guides so others can navigate.
Most of my work revolves around doing exactly that.
- Sometimes the map is a workshop.
- Sometimes it's a website.
- Sometimes it's a video.
- Sometimes it's an AI system.
But the goal is always the same: Help people understand complex ideas faster.
How I Approach the Work
Explore
Every journey starts with understanding the terrain. Who are we helping? What problems are they facing? Where are the blind spots?
Map
Once the terrain is understood, the next step is mapping. This might take the form of media, websites, documentation, workshops, or learning systems.
Navigate
Maps only matter if people can use them. Feedback, analytics, and observation show us how people move through the terrain.
